Some good news from here in Prestonsburg...
April 30, 2012
Devon has been attending our services with some friends recently. She has shown eagerness and interest in the Lord's work. She has expressed a desire to start a new life in the Lord. We've been looking forward to an opportunity to study together.
That opportunity came last night.
One of our ladies, Beverly Setser, and Devon's boyfriend, Nate, came with her. We all opened our Bibles together and for about 2 hours, studied the words of Jesus about salvation, and the book of Acts to see how men and women responded to His message.
Though it was getting late, Devon did not want to delay her obedience. She demonstrated her faith and repentance, made the good confession (Acts 8:37), and about 11:00pm, was baptized into Christ, dying to sin and rising as a new creation in Christ (cf. Romans 6:1-4; 2 Cor. 5:17).
Rejoice with us in Devon's new life in Christ, and pray that she will grow in His grace (2 Pet. 3:18)!

Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus. And as they were going along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?" And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he replied, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." And he commanded the chariot to stop, and they both went down into the water, Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him (Acts 8:35-38).
